Easy Butternut Squash Ravioli with Brown Butter Recipe
Sometimes the easiest dinners turn out to be the best! This Butternut Squash Ravioli we had the other night was one of those.
I recently picked up a package of Giovanni Rana Organic Butternut Squash & Caramelized Onions Ravioli at Costco, and with just a few simple ingredients, turned it into a delicious Fall dinner that's easy enough for a busy weeknight but absolutely good enough to serve to company.
The secret? Brown butter! If you've never made it, don't worry. It's simply butter that's been heated until it turns golden brown and develops a rich, slightly nutty flavor. It takes just a few minutes and makes this store-bought ravioli taste like something you'd order at a restaurant.
How to Make Butternut Squash Ravioli with Brown Butter
While the ravioli cooks according to the package directions, melt about 4 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Let it bubble and foam, swirling occasionally, until you see little golden-brown bits forming and the butter smells wonderfully nutty.
Add about ¼ teaspoon of dried thyme and stir briefly. Fresh sage is another delicious option, but I didn't have any on hand, so thyme it was!
Gently toss the cooked ravioli in the brown butter, then finish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a little black pepper.
That's it! A simple butternut squash ravioli recipe that feels a little fancy without requiring much effort.
I served ours alongside Italian sausage and peppers, and the combination was absolutely delicious. It's the kind of easy fall dinner I'd happily make again—or serve to guests!
Store-bought, but trust me... this one's worth trying!
